This month’s presentation is titled: The Foot-Locker
In explanation to the younger readers (and to those readers who have not had military experience) a foot-locker is a large wooden box, with a hasp for a lock, where the ordinary soldier kept his personal items. This presentation is about a particular foot-locker. It is the original foot-locker of Chief Warrant Officer Hubert Henderson, from Paulding County, who was a soldier of World War II. His foot-locker accompanied him, during the war, to the Philippine Islands. After the war was over, Chief Warrant Officer Henderson was honorably discharged from his service in the army, and he came back to his home in downtown Dallas, and he returned to civilian life. His foot-locker followed him home, shipped from the army. The foot-locker arrived in Dallas, some time later, and it was stored, along with a lot of uniforms and other war-related items, …
