About the Event
Wayne Willingham, a leading source of military and family information for Paulding County of the 1800’s and 1900’s, is the featured speaker for the November 4th public meeting sponsored by the Paulding County Genealogical Society.
Anyone interested in military history or local history will enjoy hearing Mr. Willingham, the Commander of the Gen. William J. Hardee Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He will teach general principles of genealogical research with a focus on Paulding County military veterans and their family history.
Wayne Willingham has been the Commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Paulding County for more than 25 years. He has produced their monthly programs featuring college history professors and battlefield historians as speakers.
The November presentation will be held at the historic New Hope 2nd Baptist Church, a small white building at the SW corner of Bobo Rd and Dallas/Acworth Hwy in New Hope, Georgia. The 1864 Battle of New Hope Church was fought at that location, and battlefield trenches can still be seen beyond the parking lot.
This will be an educational experience for anyone interested in researching family history and particularly military history. This monthly meeting of the Paulding County Genealogical Society is open to the public and will be from 10am to 12pm on Saturday November 4th.
